Crafty Hubby

Someone in the house has been super crafty lately and it isn't me! For Christmas, Ella got me the awesome kit pictured above. After attempting the bunny which turned out to be quite deformed, Marc decided to challenge my piece. After a quick sewing lesson from me, he was on his way to making the puppy which turned out to be a lot better than mine. I'm glad someone has the patience to create these because I certainly don't. When I came home from work the next day, I found random drawings of patterns that he thought up himself. I couldn't help but chuckle and ask him "Are you seriously going to make these?" He answered "Yes." Here we are, two weeks later and the herd is continuously growing. To add to the collection, there has been a happy ninja, a bat/cat with wings, and my personal favorite a two-toned owl. So I guess it's not me who will be starting an Etsy store soon. :) Marc has always been one to create things. One of his first 'gifts' to me was this whimsical character he carved out of wood from one of his classes in high-school. With that said, I can't wait to move to a bigger place so he can start building some furniture!

The weekend went like this...Part I

With lots in store for us this past weekend, I knew it would be nearly impossible to have a nice quiet meal with Marc. Immediately after work on Friday, I dashed home to get ready for our dinner date at Sundried Tomato in Laguna Beach. So much for hurrying as we got stuck in a mad traffic jam due to the streets being shut down for a holiday festival in downtown Laguna. We were late for our reservation anyway and there was nowhere to park so we headed to San Juan Capistrano and took our chances as walk-in's at...well, you guessed it, Sundried Tomato. Thankfully, they have 2 other locations. We were seated immediately and were able to enjoy a quiet dinner together. I like to say it was the beginning of what would become a birthday weekend of gluttony.

The birthday boy patient awaits dinner.
I ate the olive bread before I could take a picture. This is the house bread with their famous Sundried Tomato Butter.
I am a salad lover so I had to try the salad sampler.
(From L to R: Apple pecan, honey cilantro, chopped salad w/ gorgonzola)
The middle one was the best!

Sundried Tomato Mac 'n Cheese. I would definitely call it a grown-up's version of the childhood favorite. It has a rich and creamy sauce with hints of sundried tomato topped with gorgonzola cheese, mushrooms and spinach. A delectable dish indeed!

Marc's family held a surprise party for him during lunch on Saturday at their home in Loma Linda. We were both shocked at the amount of people that were there. Even the pastor who married us was there! I was also surprised to see a lot of my family. We had a great time and best of all, had delicious home-cooked food.

I found my parents at the party!

We hardly see Carlo b/c he lives in a cave called Med-School so it was great to catch up...finally!

It doesn't end here! Check back for Part II in the near future. And for those of you studying for or taking finals, best of luck! I can definitely feel your pain. :)

Happy Birthday Hubby!

Us @ C&J's engagement "wig" dinner party in Venice Beach.

Today, my hubby Marc turns a quarter of a century. We spent the whole weekend celebrating by eating more than our stomachs can bare. Of course, we have no regrets about it! :)

Marc,

I am so grateful to have you in my life. You are the most patient person I know and you are always willing to put yourself before others. You are smart and dedicated and because of those traits, I know you will go far in life. Thank you for being the loving and caring husband that you are. You truly know how to make me feel special by simply being the good person that you are.

I hope that you get everything you wish for on your special day because you deserve it all!

I love you so much!

Alli
