Weekend Brunch & Flea

On Sunday, I got to join my cousin, Claudine, for a nice brunch at Elements in Pasadena prior to ransacking the ever-so-popular Rose Bowl Flea Market. We came home with an assortment of jewelry, crates and other great finds. It was a great workout, to say the least. Unlike the pros who brought wagons and carts, we decided to take to the flea unarmed. I'd consider it hard-core as we lugged all of our purchases with our own strength from the stadium all the way to the car! We joked about how we lost a ton of electrolytes and brain cells in the process as we were quite dumb-founded and sore when we got back to her parents' house. I couldn't even manage to get a bag of popcorn opened! I blame it on the sun too. Seriously though, after all the rain, it all of a sudden got mighty hot here in So-Cal! Nonetheless, it was a day well-spent!

Family Connections

It was great to be home this weekend. After attending church with my parents on Saturday, I had a wonderful brunch at Martha Green's Eating Room with my beautiful aunts, Melissa (aka Missy) and Mandi. We had a wonderful time catching up and indulging in the best brunch in Redlands (in my opinion). I hardly get to see these ladies so we made use of every minute we had together. I hope we can get together again soon girls!

This morning, I went to a bridal shower for my cousin who is also named Melissa. I had a fun time mingling with friends and family and admiring the familiar yet gorgeous peacock feather decor. I can't wait for the wedding in two weeks!

I had a peacock feather theme for my wedding and Melissa is doing so as well. Like minds think alike!

I'm always amazed when I learn about how I'm related to a certain person. Our family is so large that I'm always meeting new people. Some of us have grown apart while some of us are just getting to know each other. No matter what, it is great to have family to love unconditionally and to love you back in return simply because "you're family!"

Long awaited weekend

I will admit that I have been quite the delinquent blogger these days. I promise, I have good reasons! Let's see...I believe I left off on Labor Day Weekend.

On Sunday, we had a little visitor. Marc's cousin Shireen brought the niece, Selphie over for the afternoon. She just turned 1 in May and is a joy to have around. We had a fun time eating and swimming together!

On Monday morning, Marc and I drove over to Laguna Beach for brunch at Anastasia. This place is half cafe and half boutique. They are known for their baguette French toast with caramel sauce and walnuts. Of course, I had to try it. It was overly sweet for my taste and I prefer my French toast to be soft and not baguette-hard.



After brunch, we walked on the beach before heading to the Orange County Great Park. Well, it's more like a huge piece of land as it is still being developed and is supposed to be bigger than New York's Central Park. At this rate, decades will pass before this project comes to fruition. The main attraction there right now is the Great Balloon which is an orange hot air balloon that lifts you off the ground to allow you to experience an aerial view of the park-to-be. It is free to board the balloon but unfortunately, they had maxed capacity for the day and we were unable to get a 'boarding pass.' We'll have to make a trip back which isn't a problem because we live fairly close.


This ends my blog for today. I'm excited for this weekend-it's my birthday weekend! Yay!
